Rotate and reorder PDF pages
A scan came in sideways, or page 7 belongs at the front. Turn the pages you need and drag the rest into order, then save it back out.
Open the toolRuns entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device.
How it works
- Add the PDFDrop the file onto the page. Every page shows up as a thumbnail.
- Turn and dragRotate a page 90° at a time. Drag a thumbnail to move it.
- DownloadSave the new file. The original on your device is untouched.
Questions
No. This tool runs in your browser with JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device. Once the page has loaded you can even go offline and it still works.
Neither. No account, no watermark on the output. The practical limit is your device memory — large scanned files use more of it.
Guide: doing it well
When pages need turning or reordering
Sideways pages come from scanners fed landscape pages, from phone photos taken at an angle, and from merged files where one source was set up differently. Out-of-order pages come from double-sided scanning, from merging in the wrong sequence, or from someone adding an appendix at the front. A reader will put up with one sideways page; a reviewer going through fifty applications will not enjoy it.
What the tool does
Rotate & reorder shows every page as a thumbnail. You can turn single pages by 90°, turn all pages at once (90° left, 90° right, or 180°), move pages up and down, and remove pages you do not want. Then save one new PDF.
Rotation is stored as a page setting inside the PDF rather than by redrawing the page. That means rotating does not reduce quality, does not make the file bigger, and keeps text selectable.
Step by step
- Choose the PDF.Thumbnails appear after a moment; long files take longer to preview.
- Fix orientation. If every page is wrong the same way, use the rotate-all buttons. Otherwise turn pages one by one.
- Fix order and remove extras.Blank pages from double-sided scanning are a common thing to delete.
- Name and save.Open the result and check the first and last few pages.
Tips
For double-sided scans where the back sides came out upside down, rotate those pages 180°. For a scanned booklet where all odd pages came first and then all even pages, it is often faster to split the file into two halves and rebuild it with Merge. Removing blank or unnecessary pages is also the most effective way to get a document under an upload limit — fewer pages means more space per page when you compress to a target size.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. Thumbnails are drawn by pdf.js and the new file is written by pdf-lib in this tab. The PDF is never uploaded.
Common problems
The page looks right here but sideways in another app. A few older viewers ignore the rotation setting. Modern browsers, Adobe Reader, macOS Preview and phone viewers all respect it.
The text on a scan is slightly tilted. This tool turns in 90° steps only; it does not straighten a crooked scan. Rescanning with the page flat against the glass is the fix.
The file will not open. Remove the password first, or try Repair PDF for damaged files.
